September Message from Carol Jackson, Executive Director

Posted September 5, 2025

Hello, Family and friends.

Today, as September has ended and we head into October, I want to talk to you about HOPE. In the coming days, you’ll hear discussions about HOPE and how we see it as a key way to support Memphis and Shelby County. The Science of HOPE is an initiative designed to build, support, and empower people to overcome trauma and adversity. I am very excited about this because I believe in the scripture “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.”

Families Matter is intentionally dedicated to giving those we serve HOPE. That is our purpose for existing. On October 9, 2025, during the Families Matter annual Collaborate & Celebrate Dinner at Second Presbyterian Church, at 6:00 p.m., you will have the opportunity to hear testimonies, ask questions, and experience the lives of some of those we serve firsthand.

Click here to view the Collaborate and Celebrate sponsorship letter and levels. Your consideration of donation, sponsorship, or attendance at the dinner is appreciated.

Thank you,

Carol A. Jackson

Executive Director

Verse of the Day

The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
