Nurturing Parenting Graduation
Posted January 30, 2021
On January 4, six awesome dads from Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee graduated from Families Matter’s Nurturing Parenting program. Families Matter’s Nurturing Parenting programs utilizes a 10-week, group-based curriculum to help fathers and mothers develop healthy parenting attitudes and skills. Our latest class began November 2 with our partnership with Madison County and the Department of Labor’s Child Support Education and Employment program.
Topics discussed included the following:
- Transformation of your Mind
- Power to Heal is Power to Forgive
- Healing the Child Within
- Nurturing Relationships
- Overcoming Barriers
Here’s what participating fathers had to say:
“This class has impacted my life tremendously being that I have 5 kids, and each one has a different personality. It’s teaching me how to address each one differently, breaking down their issues. I enjoy the conversations that we have, learning something new every week so that I can educate myself and I can use it towards my kids.” —C.S.
“Just to be able to have you guys to listen to with similar problems and situations and circumstances in life close to what I’m dealing with helped me tremendously. Just the contact during this period of time with COVID, I find myself Sunday waiting on Monday for class. These 2 hours are important to me and the fellowship is tremendous. I’ve gained a lot of insight.” —R.A.
The next Nurturing Parent/Father’s class will begin on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 6pm. For more information on how to be a part of this class, contact Mareena Shipp at 901.260.8539 or mareena@fmmemphis.org.
