Families Matter wishes everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day as we all deserve love and encouragement – on Valentine’s Day and year-round. Speaking of love, we just love when Families Matter is featured in the news, so let’s take this opportunity to reflect on some of our favorite news stories from 2021.
WREG News Channel 3 Live at 9: Make A Difference Monday
In January 2021, Families Matter Executive Director Carol Jackson was interviewed by Marybeth Conley for Make a Difference Monday on WREG News Channel 3’s Live at 9. During the interview, Carol highlighted how Families Matter has worked with fathers during the pandemic to learn their role within the family unit, to support their children and be present in their children’s lives.
cityCURRENT Signature Breakfast & Nonprofit Spotlight

Bott Radio’s Mid-South View Point, Christian Talk Radio with Byron Tyler
In March 2021, Families Matter CEO Carol Jackson was featured on Bott Radio’s Mid-South View Point, Christian talk radio with Byron Tyler. On the show, Carol spoke about Families Matter’s efforts to build strong families, starting with the men. Carol also shared some practical ways that she and her husband of 50 years, Herman, pull from the marriage toolbox to build a home that weathers the storms of life. The Daily Memphian: Active fathers are critical to children’s success
In June 2021, in honor of Father’s Day, Families Matter Director Carol Jackson was invited to write a guest column in the Daily Memphian about the importance of fathers and their role in the family unit. Read the full column here.
WMC Action News 5 Mid-South Heroes
In July 2021, Pastor Ivory Jackson received recognition as the Mid-South hero of the month, awarded by WMC Action News 5 and Families Matter. Mid-South heroes play a part in our everyday lives: teachers, pastors, servicemen, and women, neighbors, a friendly store clerk. These are the people in our hometown who make our lives a little brighter, safer and a better place for our community. WLOK 1340 AM Radio’s “Let’s Talk About It” with host B. Lynn

In September 2021, Executive Director Carol Jackson was featured on Women’s Wednesday of WLOK 1340 AM Radio’s “Let’s Talk About It” with host B. Lynn. The segment also featured Dr. Lasimba Gray, remembering the great Erma Clanton.
Carol was also interviewed a second time on WLOK 1340 AM Radio’s “Let’s Talk About It” with host B. Lynn in December 2021.
