December Message from Carol Jackson, Executive Director

Posted December 28, 2021

Hello and Merry Christmas,
It is exciting to realize that December is here and Christmas celebrations are all around. As the song says, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year.” For me, this season is one of the most beautiful times as we celebrate the greatest gift to the world – the gift of Jesus Christ and His Word. It is also meaningful to me personally because during this season my husband and I celebrate the gift of our marriage.
As I greet people with “Merry Christmas,” I also begin to think about those who find this season to be challenging as they struggle with loneliness, loss, hunger and uncertainty. Seeing the Salvation Army crew members ringing their bells, I realized that for many, this wonderful time of the year may not be so wonderful. Recently I heard an old classic written in 1967 by Stevie Wonder – Someday at Christmas. As I listened to the lyrics, they gripped me like never before, possibly due to the work we do with underserved communities. When you have time please listen to this beautiful classic.

As we work together to make life good, better and best for those we serve, let’s be mindful of our Savior who came to save the lost. As I read scripture I am hopeful for a wonderful season and a tremendous New Year. Scripture states “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6.
Merry Christmas from our families to yours,
Carol A. Jackson

Verse of the Day

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
