AFIRM Outreach Events in May
Posted June 6, 2026
| Throughout May 2026, Families Matter’s AFIRM (A Father’s Involvement Really Matters) Program strengthened connections with fathers, families, and community partners through a series of outreach events focused on support, resources, and family well-being. From providing essential supplies to engaging with community members and celebrating fathers’ achievements, these events reflected AFIRM’s commitment to empowering families and building stronger communities throughout the Mid-South. |
On May 8, Families Matter joined Forever Staying Positive (FSP) for a Free Baby and Diaper Giveaway designed to provide essential resources to families in need. The event distributed diapers, wipes, and other baby supplies while creating an opportunity for families to connect with organizations offering ongoing support. Through outreach and conversations with parents and caregivers, Families Matter shared information about AFIRM and other family-centered services that promote stability and strengthen communities. The organization was honored to support FSP’s goal of distributing at least 5,000 diaper packs to families across the community. |
Later in the month, Families Matter brought the message of family support and empowerment to Memphis Hope Fest at Tom Lee Park. The event brought together families, community organizations, and local partners to celebrate hope, opportunity, and access to resources. AFIRM staff connected with attendees by sharing information about the program’s services, discussing the importance of father involvement, and highlighting resources that help families achieve greater stability and economic mobility. The event provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen community partnerships and engage with families throughout the Mid-South. |
The month concluded with a celebration of achievement as Families Matter recognized fathers who completed the 32nd AFIRM cohort on May 27. The graduation honored participants for their dedication to personal growth, family relationships, and creating positive futures for their children.
A special highlight of the ceremony was the presence of Paul Young, who shared personal reflections and encouraged graduates by emphasizing the powerful role fathers play in shaping strong families and communities. His message served as a meaningful reminder of the impact of committed fatherhood. |
| Through outreach, partnership, and celebration, Families Matter continues to support fathers and families by providing resources, building connections, and creating pathways toward lasting success. |
