AFIRM in Action: Strengthening Families Across Memphis

Posted May 5, 2026

April was a powerful month of outreach, partnership, and impact for Families Matter’s AFIRM program. Through a series of community events, our team connected with individuals and families across Memphis—providing resources, building relationships, and supporting pathways to stability and growth.

We were proud to support individuals seeking a fresh start at the Erase and Elevate Expungement Clinic, offering guidance around employment, child support, and personal development. Our outreach continued at the 901Counts Resource Fair, where we connected families to essential services and strengthened access to community support.

Collaboration remained at the heart of our work. At the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis Annual Tribute Luncheon, we joined community leaders and partners in celebrating the collective impact of efforts to uplift families across our city.

A highlight of the month was celebrating our AFIRM graduates—honoring fathers who have demonstrated commitment to personal growth, stronger relationships, and building more stable futures for their families. Their stories are a powerful reminder of what’s possible with support and accountability.

We also engaged with families at AGAPE Fest, participated in multiple Second Chance Month events supporting reentry and workforce opportunities, and connected with students during Xcelente Trucking’s Apprenticeship Week—helping introduce career pathways and reinforce the importance of long-term success.

Each of these moments reflects our ongoing mission: strengthening families, removing barriers, and creating opportunities for fathers and communities to thrive.
