July Message from Carol Jackson, Executive Director
Posted July 6, 2025
| Family and Friends of Families Matter,
I’m amazed—July is here, and we’ve just celebrated the Fourth of July, yet stores are already kicking off their Christmas in July sales. Hallmark is highlighting their Christmas in July movies, and we’re hearing that we’re already past 2025, heading quickly into 2026. This time last year, the Families Matter AFIRM (A Father’s Involvement Really Matters) program was struggling to meet its participant goal. The ‘Take Control of Recruitment Effort’ initiative, “Recruitment is Everyone’s Business,” helped us realize the importance of spreading the word about the program. Those hands-on efforts enabled us to reach our goal. Many lessons were learned. The most important thing was that this task involved everyone in the AFIRM program. Coming together, staying together, and working together made a difference, and with the support of Community Relationship Managers, the goal was achieved. Today, as the celebration of Independence Day continues, I’ve learned that no one is an island. Whether it’s the work of AFIRM, a family matter, or simply needing a friend to share life with, we rely on each other. One of the primary significances of July 4th is that “All men are created equal, and that we have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” I asked our Community Relationship Manager, April Wade, and those who support her—Brandon McKinney, Lawrence Johnson, and others—to send me the details of the June events, which showcase the success we are experiencing. Thank you, Families Matter and AFIRM staff, for your unwavering support of the fathers we serve. Thank you, Fathers, for your participation and attendance in our programs. It is with you in mind that this work is reaching new heights beyond our expectations. Please share the information below with those who could benefit from learning about the Families Matter programs.
