Families Matter in the News, Highlighting Family Strength and Community Impact

Posted June 5, 2026

Families Matter was recently featured in two local news segments highlighting the organization’s ongoing work to strengthen families, support fathers, and create positive change throughout Memphis.

In May, Executive Director Carol Jackson joined Kontji Anthony on WREG’s Live at 9 to discuss the importance of father involvement and the work Families Matter is doing to encourage and equip fathers to be active participants in their children’s lives. The conversation highlighted the impact of programs like AFIRM (A Father’s Involvement Really Matters), which provides fathers with resources, support, and opportunities to build stronger relationships with their families.

In June, Families Matter was also featured on Local Memphis as part of the “Red, White & You: America’s 250” series, which highlights organizations working to strengthen communities in celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

Ruben Diaz spoke with Carol Jackson about Families Matter’s ongoing efforts to help create a safer Memphis by keeping families together and supporting healthy, stable home environments. The discussion underscored the connection between strong families and strong communities, and how local organizations like Families Matter play a vital role in driving long-term change.

We invite you to watch both interviews and learn more about the work being done to strengthen families across the Mid-South.
