May Message from Carol Jackson, Executive Director
Posted May 19, 2023
Each May, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, I reflect on the miracle of a mother’s love. Mothers offer much to their children, their families, and the community. A few words come to mind when I think of mothers: comfort, nurturing, warmth, selflessness, strength, endurance, and unconditional love. Mothers carry their children in so many ways: in the womb for nine months, physically during a child’s infancy and toddler years, and then spiritually and emotionally for the rest of their lives. A mother’s love is never-ending, unwavering, and critical to a child’s well-being. I invite you to join me in offering gratitude and immense respect for mothers everywhere who carry their children into this world and continue to carry them in prayer and with love daily. Thank you, Mom!
Mother, please join this movement…
Families Matter AFIRM (A Father’s Involvement Really Matters) is on the move. Our 5 locations are ready to receive and work with fathers 18-40 years old to assist them in understanding their children’s need, want, and desire to have a relationship with their FATHERS.
This historical and groundbreaking move is designed to support fathers in the following ways.
- To improve economic mobility, we all want to earn more to sustain, protect and care for our families.
- Increase a father’s knowledge of healthy parenting – we all wish for an instructor after the mistake. Let’s become proactive and seek encouragement, knowledge, and understanding from Fathers who understand your situation.
- Improve support for fathers who need assistance with their child support payment.
These ground-breaking goals were designed with the father in mind. Unfortunately, until now, FATHERS did not have a safety net to assist them when they found themselves in trouble with their Child Support issues. That fear caused many to go underground rather than face the punitive laws of Child Support officials. AFIRM (A Father’s Involvement Really Matters) is a program that offers assistance, helps a father find employment, increases your knowledge of healthy parenting, and assists you with right-sizing your financial responsibility to your child/children.
Mom, you play a significant role in assisting your children’s father to understand how vital healthy parenting is to the family. So please join this movement, and let’s talk about co-parenting and how your child/children will benefit from you and the child’s father working together.
YOU do not want to miss this opportunity to be proactive in your child/children’s lives. So, Mother, join this co-parenting movement and support your child/children’s father by becoming involved and asking him to engage with AFIRM. Your children will thank you, and your future self will thank you also.
