January Message from Carol Jackson, Executive Director

Posted January 15, 2023

Hello and Happy New Year!

It is hard to believe we are in the fourth week of January 2023. Didn’t we just celebrate Christmas? I have heard the term “time appears to be flying by” and now I am living in that space of time. Time appears to be flying by as we rush here and there, doing our best to make our small circle of life better. With that said, I desire to pause and be thankful for those awesome things that happened to Families Matter in 2022. Recently, our marketing organization sent us a recap of last year’s media coverage and many of the things sent were a distant memory to me. However, as I glanced at them and repeated the events in my mind, I realized I do not want to lose those memories so quickly. So, I have chosen to share them with you.

I also want to thank Pastor Orr and The Brown Baptist Church family for the provisions they gave in assisting Families Matter in providing Christmas for some of our students at Dunbar Elementary School. Their love for Families Matter and the communities we serve is beautiful. Thank you, Pastor Orr and the Brown Baptist Church Family.

As we move into February – the Families Matter AFIRM project (A Father’s Involvement Really Matter) will launch. Please stop what you are doing when you read this and pray for a successful program as we go deeper into the communities of Memphis with love, hope, and grace, supporting fathers in becoming their best selves to support their families successfully.

On another note, I ask that you continue to pray for the Harvest Church Families. We ask that you pray for the families of Bill Garner, Steve Tucker, Tyler Patterson, and Tyler Springer, as they grieve the loss of those they loved. We also ask that you pray for the healing of Kennon Vaughan, the lone survivor of the crash, as he and his family navigate his recovery. We are holding them all in our prayers.

And now – enjoy my stroll back through 2022 – God truly blessed Families Matter and I always want to remember HIS blessings to us.

Thank you,

Carol Jackson, Executive Director

Verse of the Day

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
